●SHORT VIDEO● FIX YOUR O.S.

FIX YOUR O.S.
2010 | Color | Digital Video | 16:9 | Stereo | Spanish | 3 min.
Photographed and edited by Ioannes Busca
shot with Sony DV Handycam in Madrid
March 2010

Video created for the GEP Experimental Projects Group class in the Madrid Architecture School, ETSAM.
We worked on a project for a couple of weeks together with students from the British AA School around the city of La Habana in Cuba, after their research of a whole semester. After an intense week of work, we concluded that the key point to start fixing the whole country was that the cuban citizens have to start fixing the windows of their houses, as a metaphor of fixing their operating system... In this video it came after that project, I thought that I had to do the same with my own life. Fix my O.S.

●POSTER DESIGN● IN&OUT CONTEST POSTER

Edited by Guillermo Fernández, Iñigo Cornago, Ioannes Busca and Miguel Beloqui,
Madrid, February 17, 2010

Video directed by Miguel Beloqui to pay tribute to ETSAM professor and architect Andrés Perea.
Miguel Beloqui was in charge of making this tribute video, so once he collected all the videos from the people in various formats an qualities, we managed to find a way to merge them as a single unit. I had an old TV  and an old Apple powerbook laptop at home and Guillermo Fernandez had another old TV, so we three and Iñigo Cornago, met at my house and we edited this video. We had some good laughs!

●PRODUCT DESIGN● BEGIGORRI prototype

●POSTER DESIGN● SILESTONE CONTEST POSTER

500×700 mm
Digital Image
Ink jet printed on paper

Poster designed to promote the third edition of Silestone's International Idea Contest organized by I+D+Art & Cosentino
The competition was about reusing Silestone's discarded pieces and making something with them. I made a big exclamation mark out of Silestone's materials catalog that covered the poster entirely to draw the attention of people so they would read the contest rules and participate. They liked the idea so much that they made T-shirts with this design for this year and the upcoming years contest.

●LOGO DESIGN● AHABI

Name and logo design for Ahabi, the publishing division of AA&NN Ltd.
The design of the Ahabi logo is reminiscent of what its name represents, "ahabi" means blueberry in basque, language spoken in the Basque Country where the company was founded.

●MODEL DESIGN● PLAZA ECOPOLIS

700×150×50 mm aprox.
Cardboard and plastic

Model design for Ecosistema Urbano architects office for their latest project: Plaza Ecopolis. This working model was use during the building's development phase as part of a mayor project that aimed to regenerate a plot on the outskirts of Madrid, a place surrounded by transport infrastructure and adjacent to an industrial estate into  a public space for social interaction.
I met Jose Luis Vallejo in Madrid Architecture School where I was studying at the time when he was teaching there. When the semester ended he offered me a one month internship in his office developing this model that later became a real building.

●CONCEPT DESIGN● SIKA CONTEST ENTRY

1188×420 mm
Digital Image
Ink jet printed paper over foam core board

Proposal created in collaboration with Laura Currais and Pablo Muñoz, submitted to the 2009 SIKA Student Architectural Competition.
This years rules were to create a temporary basement in the Caiman islands and put there all the politicians of the world so that they would fix the economical crisis that we were suffering... so for a utopian proposal what better than  a hyper-realistic solution. Laura was from Vigo so we thought that the ship could be produced there creating lots of jobs in the area. Then it would go around the world picking up the politicians to finally settle down in the Caiman island we all together they would resolve all the worlds problems (?)...Then of course the ship woul be reused as a luxury transatlantic. We didn't have much time to createa a hyper-realistic looking drawing of a transatlantic so we just took an amazing drawing by Stephen Biesty from his Incredible Cross-Sections books and ripped it out. If we had won we would have send a check to Mr Biesty. But that, sadly, didn't happen.

●DVD DESIGN● ECOSISTEMA URBANO DVD

DVD design and authoring for Ecosistema Urbano's exhibition at II Biennial of the Canary Islands about Architecture, Art and Landscape. The exhibition took place from March 5th to May 3rd, 2009 in the Canary Islands in Spain.
I had a great time working with Iñigo Cornago creating the menus and introductory motion graphics for each of the ten videos collected in this DVD.

●LOGO DESIGN● MMOT

Logo and name design for a partnership to between AA&NN and I+D+Art for a touchscreen proposal for he actúa UPM, an entrepreneurial organization part of the university for the promotion of new ideas and projects.
MMOT stands for 'Madrid Malaga Oñati Touch', the first three are the places of residence of the driving forces behind the project and 'Touch' refers to the project that consisted on a touch screen interface and was developed entirely y Aaron Busca and designed externally by me. We were awarded with a mention for the project idea and receive some special classes on how to create a company but we where not able to collect enough money to continue its development so MMOT disappeared after a few months of its creation.

shot with Sony  Hi8 Handycam in ETSAM, Madrid
October 28, 2008

Video recorded for the DAI 1 (Drawing, Analysing and Ideation 1) class with professor Atxu Amann in the Madrid Architecture School, ETSAM.
Atxu Amann asked me to record this action that the first year architecture students in DAI 1 class have been preparing for many weeks as a tribute to Javier Seguí, professor in the Ideation Department that is retiring soon. The performance consisted in picking one of the many small drawings Javier usually draws in his notebooks and translate it in to a huge matrix of 8 by 8 DIN-A0 size boards and dance with them.

Mrs. GOOGLE
2008 | Color | Digital Video | 4:3 | Stereo | Spanish | 55s
Starring Mrs. Google
concept & editing by Ioannes Busca
Recorded in Madrid
October 2008

Video created for a workshop organized by Ecosistema Urbano architects in Matadero, Madrid where ideas and proposals to build a better city were discussed.
I thought it would be cool to confront the opinions of a randomly chosen woman's at the street with the first results given by google at the same time, at the same place.

●LOGO DESIGN● EYCA

Logo submitted to the EYCA, European Youth Card international competition.
The previous EYCA logo was Hercules with European stars around, so I thought it would be fun to simplify and just take a curly hair of his head as a logo.

●LOGO DESIGN● MUKIDE

Logo designed hand to hand with Aaron Busca for a competition organized by the Mondragon Universitys ex-alumny association. The logo was awarded the first price and is in used by the association ever since.
MuKide, the name of the association, means in basque 'Mondragon Universtity Friend' so the logo is a variation of the actual Mondragon University MU logo, and represents a hug, as if two good friends embrace each other with arms.

●LOGO DESIGN● SOLD OUT CONTEST

Logo submitted to the Sold Out logo design competition.
A mask made out of an S and an O that represents the brand's work in cultural and artistic fields. The infinite symbol refers to the brands open approach to many different markets.

●DVD DESIGN● DRAGON BALL -DBBP EDITION-

DVD menu design and authoring of DRAGON BALL by DBBP, a project that aims to recover the series with today quality standards and in Euskara , the language spoken in the Basque Country.
That was an ambitious project DBBP. Systematizing everything was fundamental to keep the project data organized and under control and so that the next DVDs would be authored with less effort. I did a step by step guide of the process to ensure that every detail was properly done in a way anyone could take that guide and follow it to make another disc. The beautiful illustrations by Akira Toriyama are used all over the menus.

●CONCEPT DESIGN● DUSTLIC (Japanese campaign)

297×420mm
Digital Image
Ink jet printed in paper

Product and ad design for ETSAM Architecture School class.
After making the home commercial campaign of DUSTLIC, I decided it would be fun to try to do some international variations of the printed commercial. I did this Japanese one with the help of google translator, my apologies for the Japanese readers, I will try harder next time.

●CONCEPT DESIGN● DUSTLIC

297×420mm
Digital Image
Ink jet printed in paper

Product and ad design for  ETSAM Architecture School class.
We had to take something in this years design class and improve it, so I decided to take my new Ikea Lersta lamp  and design a plastic cover for it  to prevent dust from getting in when I put it looking upwards so that the light is not direct when I am reading. I name it DUSTLIC because is a piece of plastic that avoids dust.  The project was explained with this printed ad campaign that would communicate the idea to potential consumers, because after all, what is the point of solving a problem just for yourself?  If this problem affects to millions of owners of this lamp what better than make people know that this problem  can be solved right now with DUSTLIC. I belive that the only way of reaching the attention of consumers is by commercial campaigns that explain the product in an easy way so that everyone can understand them.

●CONCEPT DESIGN● COLOR - SIKA CONTEST 2008

420mm x 597mm
Digital image
Ink jet printed paper over foam core board

Panel conceptualized together with Beatriz del Castillo and her team mates, presented to the 2008 SIKA Architectural Competition  organized by SIKAThe panel was awarded with a mention.
This year the theme was "profitable city" and the goal was to maximize the profitability of a generic city. Our idea was to merge the colors of the city's infrastructures with the colors attributed to brands. Coke is red, Orange is obviously orange and Caja Madrid has a green bear as a logo.

●SHORT VIDEO● EXPERTIZACIÓN -TALLER DE MURCIA-

EXPERTIZACIÓN -TALLER DE MURCIA-
2008 | Color | Digital Video | 4:3 | Stereo | 3min 5s
Featuring:
Elena Alvarez, Enrique Bayarri, Miguel Beloqui, Silvia Echeverria
Ioannes Busca, Guillermo Fernandez & Raul Nieves
Edited by Ioannes Busca
Music Kiko Veneno 'SI tu, si yo'
Shot with Handycams in centro Párraga, Murcia
April 2008

Video created together with Elena Alvarez, Enrique Bayarri, Miguel Beloqui, Silvia Echeverria, Guillermo Fernandez & Raul Nieves for in an architectural weekend workshop in Párraga Center, Murcia from April 9 to 12 with the Madrid Architecture School's Experimental Projects Group and the visiting artists Yvonne Laurysen and Moritz Waldemeyer.
That was one of the craziest workshop I have ever been in to. Our motto was: 'We have come to expertize and we don't care about results' With that mindset, failure was not an option. We came up with so many ideas, some crazy, some not so crazy; to develop later  during the semester... and we had a great time. What else can we ask for?

●LOGO DESIGN● ETSAM LIBRARY

Logo submitted to the ETSAM library logo competition. This design was awarded with the second price and therefore it was never used.
The idea behind this logo is to make a simple yet a not common representation of a book as we kwon today, constructed with sheets of paper bound together. If the future of the book is hard to define, it's even harder to define what kind of documents or services will provide a library in the upcoming years so even the book is the main reason of being of the libraries, I decided to represent the book in a rather abstract way.

●CONCEPT DESIGN● LEAVENING BOX

210×147×30 mm (Folded: 460×340 mm )
Photo and Digital image
Ink jet on cardboard

Box created as a final presentation in Madrid Architecture School. The box collected the A5 size cards with the multiple ideas and project approaches that were generated during the semester.
The idea behind this augmented  version of the original ROYAL baking powder box is to create a metaphorical image of each card being a dose of leavening that can make something else grow or can grow by itself in something more than just an idea, thu becoming a real project. To transform those projects in reality we created a company and we name it AA&NN.

●LOGO DESIGN● AA&NN COMING SOON

Logo designed for the newly created company AA&NN, founded by brothers Aaron & Ioannes Busca
While we came up with something better we used a provisional design taken from ROYAL, a well know baking powder brand. We found it was inspiring thinking that this new company would be the leavening needed to make any idea grow into real projects. The logo was designed from the very beginning to be a temporary one and was used just for the first months of the company.
