I met Gonzalo a while ago and we have never had the chance to work on something together. He is always so busy working on multiple projects that he told me if I could record a short video for him with a brand new cell phone Nokia just presented. So this is it.

In the time of the competition, this whisky brand was releasing print commercials in magazines nationwide, with the theme 'Donde hay amigos' (Where there are friends). The contest consisted on following the campaign spirit and design with an image divided in two and a catch phrase. I came with this idea: In every party they call them QUEENS / Their friends know they are REPUBLICANS.

Intervention on a dwell in India. The proposal is a kind of a huge mechanical umbrella that is activated with the rain water and covers the visitors from the sun while it indicates the periods of rain.

I designed these prototypes in a design class with professors Aranguren + Gallegos. That semester they entrusted us with the work to get a material and give it a new use. The main idea was to create a membrane that would cover the user, that was foldable and transportable and that could be built using simple materials and folding operations. To learn more visit: https://aaandnn.com/lab/less-is-mor-gan/

The two 'A's merged together represent the well known fast forward logo of the video players. Those days were still half analog half digital days so a lot of fast forwarding and rewinding was needed to finish the tasks.
I discovered Alison and Peter Smithson's work in a school trip we did last year to UK, where we visited many of their buildings. This year we had to choose an existing house from a list, draw it and analyze it first, and then make a proposal for an expansion. I chose these architect's Upper Lawn Pavilion. While researching to find information to draw the house properly, I found their books and texts and is then when I really started to understand their approach to architecture. Magnificent, clear minded, honest, human scale architecture. Nothing to do with what we are used to see now a days in magazines.

I think this is one of the first covers I did for AAGRAFA. When I arrived, they didn't usually make covers to the videos they were creating on DVD, but I managed to convince our boss, Ildefonso to bring us a color printer that printed blank DVDs from the near by offices to our workplace. Even we didn't have a lot of time to do fancy stuff, just being a two hours a day job we all tried to bring some color and design to the ETSAM library video archive.DVD DETAILS

I needed a kid's voice for this animation test, so Atxu Amann generously invited me to her house with her kids Javier and Josetxu. We improvised this story and many others while eating cookies and playing with Star Wars lightsabers. It was a funny afternoon.

This was the first DVD I have ever designed and authored and I remember it was a big pain to discover how all this new stuff worked. Looking back at it I fell embarrassed by the design of the menus, they are ridiculously ugly.DVD DETAILS
This project never took off. Maybe I will rescue it in the future. Imo means potato in Japanese.

Memory
From the start the project is thought not only as a pavilion for people who visit the house but a meeting point where anyone can go, stay and talk with other people. The backyard of the house is a nice space for that.
The proposed building is basically a prefabricated metallic arch that is seven meters high in its upper part and crosses the garden from one side to the other, covering the 98 square meters of it and transforming it in a polyvalent space. The textile roof that covers the structure can be folded, opening the space to the rest of the garden. These textile walls are also used as projection screens.
All the furniture and systems needed are provided inside four modular blocks that keep everything hidden while not in use. All these content grows through the pavilion and is moved by the visitors themselves, who for example can take a chair, use it and return it to the block when they don't need it anymore.
